Just a short drive North of Duluth, awaits some of the most scenic landscapes in the upper Midwest. Come camp and enjoy a quiet summer night, week or week end, deep in the wilderness of the Sawtooth Mountains and the Superior National Forest. Be where the wolves howl at night and loons echo from shore to shore. Set up your lakeside camp at Ninemile Lake along the many generous and private lake sites available, or pick a secluded wooded site. Enjoy the quite peace of a small lightly populated campground that offers great fishing for walleye, perch, and northern, or explore Ninemile by canoe or fishing boat. Several small Lakes in the area provide a variety of fishing opportunities with a short portage or scamper down the road.
There are 26 campsites each with a fire grate or ring, picnic table, tent pad, parking spur and numbered site post. Most sites also contain lanteren holders. The campground has a solar water system, 2 ADA concrete vault, 1 normal vault toilets, some accessible campsites and one large dumpster. There is also a picnic area, boat launching area, dock and parking lot near the shores of Ninemile Lake. The campground is a typical loop with many lakeside accessible sites if you have a boat. The sites are very spaceous (wooded areas) between sites. Each site has a thick canopy of pine and ceder for shade, providing a nice intimate area to set up your camp. No worries about lighting up your neighbors rig with your fire ring here.
Not just a lake, there are also ample opportunities to enjoy your new back yard forest. Bird watch, take photos, mountain bike, ATV ride or hike on the nearby trails and forest roads. Walk on a hiking trail, accross the road of the campground and travels through a scenic boreal forest. Tour the many scenic attractions of the area, such as nearby Tettegouche state park, Temperance River,Gooseberry Falls, Baptisim River and Judge CR Magney state park. Enjoy a local community activity or eating establishment, or just sit amongst your fragrant new surroundings, crackling fire and night sounds of a peaceful Minnesota wilderness.
Complete with islands and hidden bays, the lake is perfect for someone who likes to explore while camping. Next to the campground is a 1/2 mile hiking trail that leads to several snowmobile trails. These trails travel through a forest to some beautiful scenic vista's. ATV's keep the trails open in summer, miles of great walking or ATVing is available! Just North of the camground on hyw. 7 is access to Echo Lake (trout lake), a portage access to Goldeneye Lake and slightly North is access to the Crooked Lake Canoe Route. The campground is located on the West shore of Ninemile Lake. Zoom out on the above map until you can see hyw 61. From 61, take hyw 1 to Finland, Mn. Turn right on hwy 7, in Finland, drive through the Sawtooths along the scenic Baptisim River on Cramer road. Travel about 13 miles, the campground entrance and National Forest sign are on the left just after fire # 8977. Drive through and pick out your first come/serve site, campsites are $15 dollars per night.
